Nobody loves them, but we can’t do without them or so they would like you to believe. It is not about some Arab Spring or sand dunes in lovely Libya. It is not even about that Mecca of the world called Saudi Arabia where woman can only hold the steering wheel but not drive in public. It is about what is under the sand, “yes water” no I mean oil. Want to read about it? This hard to find hardbound copy of The Seven Sisters will tell all you want to know in 334 pages. I am sure most members of the United States Congress have never even heard of this book or the writer Anthony Simpson. Simpson was the Washington correspondent for that worthwhile rag “The Observer” in 1974.

Simpson wrote some fabulous books and this is one of them. Yes, I love the colored oil tankers on the cover done by Leonard Leone.
