If you are interested in American typography and the development of the American book around the turn of the Twentieth Century than this book titled, American Book Design and William Morris by Susan Otis Thompson is for you to read and probably re-read.
I personally have to agree with the comments on the back cover (shown above). This is a quirky topic with much detail about various small publishers as described in this book. I found it a bit hard to read, as a novice on the subject matter. There is a lot of technical information crammed into a few chapters. I found it interesting but dry reading.
