moody1aWho remembers the Moody Blues Band? Well if you grew up in the seventies you would! The Moody Blues used a real artist with a painting background to design their record album covers. The artist is Philip Travers. I think the cover of this 1972 album “Seventh Sojourn” is wonderful but have yet to listen to the music!

travers detail 2Look at the gate fold album details, it looks like a surrealistic painting or is it driftwood, done with an airbrush? Could it be a view of the coast of Cornwall England where Travers lives now? Who knows? I think it is wonderful, as I am drawn to album covers done by artists who really do graphic design or paint or do woodcuts. I do not care in what medium they work. Its just GREAT!!!
