The Walker Art Center in Minneapolis, Minnesota in 1992 organized a superb photography exhibition of German photographers titled Photography in Contemporary German Art: 1960 to the Present . The curator for this exhibition was Mr. Gary Garrels. The Walker Art Center printed a 141 page softcover catalog with an illustration of Joseph Beuys‘ work, Iphighenia/Titus Andronicus 1985 shown on the cover. (courtesy Matthew Marks Gallery, New York). Each photographer’s work was discussed in a short essay interspersed with color and black and white photographs throughout. A well done biography and bibliography concludes the book. For those not up to par with what happened in German photography and the importance of those developments in contemporary art, it is a must reading.
