I recently viewed an interesting online exhibition assembled from the University of MarylandSpecial Collections Library in 2008. The title of the exhibition was “The Well-Dressed Book” and it is about cloth book bindings in the United States and the town of Baltimore, Maryland in particular. Perhaps a bit of an academic title for a description of this sort, in my opinion a very fascinating topic, and well put together with over 270 pictures of book bindings. The explanations are excellent! It is well worth viewing, if you are a book collector, in general, and appreciate the history of the American book.
I have put a link up for you (below) to this online exhibition on Flickr. The slideshow will not disappoint you!
