Grove Press 1990, the cover design of the book Marguerite Duras Four Novels is by Louise Fili (1951-) with a very nice evocative black and white photograph by Marcia Lippman. My guess is the photograph was taken at Versailles, France who knows?
I find the greenish silvered cover very in tune with the atmosphere described in much of the novelist and film director Marguerite Duras’s work.
Duras (1914-1996) deserves to be read more than she is today, in my opinion. Too many fictitious stories about her have been written over the years, but the work of this unconventional woman’s work will come back to haunt you.
