He was responsible for the introduction of Berthold Brecht’s work to America.

The original reason for this post was the illustration on the cover of the book by the artist Ben Shahn (1898-1969) whose work never disappeared from the public eye and the art world.
To most, his work relating to the famous Sacco and Vanzetti trial is considered the most important and visible, but his career spans much more than that issue. Here is a well produced introduction to his life and work.
