One of the largest SIM card makers in the world, the French/ Dutch Gemalto Company, released a press release covering a presumed reported cyber break to obtain sim card encryption keys by the United States and United Kingdom security services. The company has several US offices. The company produces over 2 billion SIM cards annually that are sold world wide for use in smart phones, credit cards, passports and so on. The Dutch stock exchange reported a drop in the company share price on Friday, February 20, 2015.

It appears that no encrypted data is sacred or secret anymore anywhere. The Dutch Government and Gemalto are investigating the incident(s).
