We live in an age of political posturing and virtual reality masquerading the lack of political leadership. Democracy has almost become synonymous with the kowtowing to the regimes of despots and dictators like North Korea, Syria, Turkey etc.
The fall out of a potential nuclear event or also called black rain has been described in the book Black Rain by the Japanese writer Masuji Ibuse in 1969.
The book cover design by M. Kuwata alludes probably to the not so virtual wave of nuclear fall out overtaking humanity.
The so called belly band of a book is used as an advertising tool to catch the viewer’s eye and induce him or her to a spontaneous purchase and they normally are discarded after a while. Perhaps this one was saved for a good reason;
enough said but more in an earlier post here.
